High Mountain Groove is young and we haven’t done an album yet, so here is an archive of music from the founding members so you can get to know us a bit!
Same 4 Everybody was inspired by Kootenay music festival Starbelly Jam, and the Mexican reggae band Rastrillos. This features original band member Robby Roots on bass and Dan on guitar (for a change). Robby added the sweet slide licks.
Drop the Roach has been a fan favourite since it was written and is the tune you’ll most likely wake up humming the next day. This features Dan on lead guitar as well as bass.
2 A.M. is the classic lineup, Dan on bass & vocals, Robby on guitar and Todd as always on drums. This was written in honour of Ted Wallace and out trip to Tulum in 2004.
Here’s sample from our collaboration with Mexican Reggae Legends, Antidoping with special thanks to Juan Paul Martinez.
JP’s version of Respect was a fun surprise. I walked into Antidoping’s Canadian clubhouse (Todd’s place) and he told me to put on the headphones and sing! Todds doing the background vocals.
This version of Drop De Roach features Antidoping’s great horn section with Kenji Fukushima’s lead guitar & Daniel Cordero with the stunning sax solo at the end.
